My Life as an Author

Yes, the word is out. I am a passionate novelist by night...

After getting the idea for Mica Powers and The Hand of Light, I became zealous about bringing thirteen year old Mica Powers extraordinary story to life. I decided to dedicate a good portion of my life to writing about Mica's wonderful adventures. The words flowed from me. My muse seemed to be dictating events, plots, characters and most importantly heart. For in all the suspenseful adventures Mica must encounter, it will not be his powers, wit, honor or daring that wins us, it will be his courageous heart. The story is written for boys' ages 9 to 14, but appeals to both genders and all ages.

Recently, a 11 year old boy asked me how I invented the electric world of Mica Powers. Remarkably, the concept of modern day mythological beings (living among us), called Spinicals, came to me as a whole premise several years ago. Even then I imagined Spinicals and their world much as I write them now. My own technical knowledge was helpful. For several decades I have worked with computers, wrote papers about them and work daily in cyberspace. So, creating a fantasy world of powers, domains, electrified adventures and negative force bad guys was an easy reach for my interactive imagination. The main setting for the Mica Powers adventures is near my home in beautiful Arizona, next to the Superstition Mountain. Here, the dramatic lanscape and fabulous monsoon seasons are a spectacular backdrop for Mica's extraordinary tales to take place.

I am a proud member of The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and helped build the Silver Web Writers Group, a group of talented authors and editors, that I am fortunate to be a part of.  I'm published in Vision, A Resource for Writers, online writer’s magazine, and am a member the Arizona Authors Assocation and the Forward Motion Writers Community.

Status:

Mica Powers and The Hand of Light - is in it's last draft revisions, aprox. 98,000 words.
Mica Powers and the Velocity Brothers. - is at 50,000 words and growing.
Mica Powers and the Time Stepper (working title) - is in outline form.
Mica Powers -'Book 4' is not titled yet and is in a conceptual outline.
